Few days ago a video of a female guerilla’s body being dragged by some village guards was leaked on twitter. In the footage seems how a wounded female guerilla is dragged by the hair and beaten repeatedly by turkish soldiers and village guards (working for the turkish government).

While beating her the village guard recording the video is shouting that he gladly would sacrifice her for any turkish soldier and then calls her a whore. At the end of the video they begin stripping her clothes off.

This is not something uncommon and is a well known method that’s been used before by the turkish army, they use it to undermine a woman's value and role.

Though the video was leaked few days ago reports say that the incident occured on 28 August only a year apart from the torturing and killing of another female guerilla, Ekin Wan, after she was captured alive by Turkish soldiers in August 2015.

The female guerilla in the video is a member of People's Defence Forces (HPG) and her name is Saime Avşin (Avaşîn Gabar).

This brutal action, is a violation of all international human rights laws and those who perform the inhumane action is an army that is a member of NATO. Not only is this action a humiliation to all women in the world but it is also a crime against the principles that the human rights are founded upon.

We as KJAR-Europe condemn all forms of oppression against women, no woman should have to endure physical as well as psychological violence. Therefore all human and women’s rights organizations need to be brought together to resist all forms of violence against women.
