KJAR’s statement on 15 August’s anniversary

The road to freedom that our leader, Abdullah Öcalan, and our martyrs gifted us was like a resurrection to us, 32 grueling years has now passed. The difficulties of these 32 years but with the color of hope, a future of freedom harboring in his arms. Our people even to this day stood up for this relic in hope of a brighter future.

With war, struggle and guidance Abdullah Öcalan braided these 32 years and established a celebration of resurrection. On behalf of all martyrs that sacrificed their lives from the firing of first shot to this day, we celebrate this anniversary. We as the Women's Liberation Movement in east Kurdistan (KJAR) celebrate 32nd anniversary of the resurrection. We especially want to congratulate the leader of our freedom movement, our martyrs, our people and all the peoples of the Middle East.

August 15 is more than a day it is a continuation of a way of life in our struggle. Throughout the Kurdish history between rebellions and failures coming and going. August 15 became an announcement of rebellion and victory. The past year was a sign of this. Firing of the first shot in August 15 1984 made our ideology of freedom even stronger and it was Öcalan who paved the way. It gave sound to the silence, light to the darkness, from bowing heads to rising up and from living in slavery to being freed. We now live honorably.

Today, with the glory of the great leader and commander Egîd, in their spirit we fight in all four parts of Kurdistan against the occupiers, the authorities and against all forces that want to keep the people in the dark. In the memory of martyrs such as Besê and Egîd our struggle has reached a new peak. With the strength from our martyrs we’re heading towards victory. It is time to ensure the victory of the resurrection. We as the Women's Liberation Movement in East Kurdistan (KJAR) with the belief and confidence we receive from celebrating the resurrection, we say by creating a society and a world ruled by freedom and equality will be our honor.
